Lantern Row - Neon Shophouse Street

Lantern Row is an architectural mini world: a street of five worn three-to-four storey shophouses in faded teal, ochre and grey stucco, hung with glowing neon, backlit lightboxes and scaffold tarps.

It features balconies with barred railings and potted plants; grilled windows and half-lowered roller shutters over lit shop interiors; corrugated lean-to roofs, a rooftop water tank and a steel-framed rooftop sign; double-sided blade signs, flat neon emblems (dragon, koi, noodle bowl, pagoda arch, arrow) and lightboxes, all original artwork; tube scaffolding with teal tarps; utility poles and overhead wires; market stalls, crates, a bicycle, cardboard stacks and bin-bag heaps along the kerb; one walking scale figure.
